Charity services are those set up by people who intend serving the public interest or the common good. A charity organization is set up with the intention of doing good works for those less fortunate in the world or for a specific cause which could be caring for animals, fauna or flora. Many charities exist to help those stricken with a particular disease such as cancer, tuberculosis or AIDS and to support the family members of those suffering from the disease.
Most charity organizations allow people to fundraise in order to make circumstances easier for those in need of help. These are non-profit organizations as all profits go to those in need. This does not exclude charities from paying full or part-time staff members who work to promote the charity.
Charity organizations are very carefully regulated to prevent fraudulent activities by those who may be tempted by the money available. Regulations also safeguard the donors who would like to be assured that their donations are going to relieve the lot of those who benefit from their favorite charity.
Many charitable organizations appoint staff whose job it is to coordinate events at which funds will be raised and to approach wealthy philanthropists and to persuade them to support the particular charity by making substantial donors. Most governments allow tax rebates to those who donate to charities.
While fundraising is the most common function of charity organizations, many dedicate themselves to serving the needy. The members of such organizations have philanthropic goals and their interests lie in providing services in education and religion, to children, women and others.
One such charity is Rotary International. Rotary Clubs have been established in many countries around the world. Each club commits itself to bring together business and professional leaders in order to encourage high ethical standards in business and to provide humanitarian service to members of the local community. The clubs, which are open to all persons regardless of race or creed, build goodwill and peace in their communities and across the globe. This is only one of many global organizations of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child, one woman and one community at a time
